At a Glance
The following specifications detail the core setup requirements for the standard FactoryTouch appliance. These parameters are essential for maintaining equipment longevity and ensuring valid warranty coverage with Plantformance AG and Elo Touch.
FactoryTouch units utilize passive (fanless) cooling and are strictly designed for indoor environments. They are not waterproof and must remain dry.
1. Environmental Specifications
The physical installation site must maintain stable environmental controls within the following operating and storage boundaries:
-
Operating Temperature: 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F).
-
Storage Temperature: -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F).
-
Humidity (Non-Condensing): Operating relative humidity must stay between 20% and 80%. Storage limits span 5% to 95% (with a maximum wet-bulb temperature of 38.7°C).
-
Altitude Limits: Operating ceiling of 0 to 3,048 m (0 to 10,000 ft); storage ceiling of 12,192 m (40,000 ft).
-
Air Quality Preservation: Because the chassis uses passive cooling, dust can enter through the rear ventilation slots over extended periods. The unit requires periodic cleaning with compressed air, and ventilation slots must never be blocked.
2. Infrastructure & Operating Prerequisites
To deploy and successfully bring a FactoryTouch unit online, the following physical and logistical dependencies must be met at the machine location:
Electrical Power
-
AC Supply Connection: Standard 100–240 VAC grid input at 50–60Hz frequency.
-
Power Delivery Components: The system operates via a universal external AC/DC power adapter brick providing a USB-C output.
-
Safety Grounding: The AC power cord must be plugged into a fully grounded, three-pin electrical network outlet to guarantee protection against electrical shock. Always disconnect the AC cable prior to cleaning the assembly.
Network & Architecture Connectivity
-
Physical LAN Interface: One dedicated physical network port (RJ45 GigabitEthernet) must be available on your industrial local network switch.
-
Cabling Standard: Connection requires an Ethernet RJ45 S/FTP Cat6 copper network patch cable leading to the local switch.
-
Gateway Linkage: The unit requires permanent network reachability to a functioning FactoryBrain server or centralized server infrastructure hosting the platform.
-
Frequency Restrictions: While the internal module supports dual-band wireless (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), operation within the 5150–5350 MHz frequency range complies with EU Directive 2014/53/EU and is strictly restricted to indoor use to protect satellite communications.
Software, Licensing, & Administration
-
Gateway Module Dependency: The Plantformance Device Management module must be actively installed inside your centralized Ignition gateway.
-
Licensing Seats: A valid HMI management license contract with a minimum of 1 seat allocation must be active.
-
Peripheral Validation: Integrated 2D barcode scanners and NFC proximity readers are immediately visible in Tag Provider, but require further Ignition scripting to execute automated high level functions such as badge logons or scan production orders.
Mounting & Mechanical Setup
-
Structural Supports: A standard 100mm VESA industrial mounting interface (75x75mm or 100x100mm using M4 screws) must be pre-assembled on-site (e.g., a heavy-duty monitor stand, articulated swing arm, or rigid wall mount).
-
Screen Maintenance: In harsh or high-impact fabrication environments, installing an external screen protector over the edge-to-edge glass is strongly recommended to eliminate the risk of scratches from abrasive particles.
