Module setup

Ignition Module Setup Guide

1. Module Installation

  1. Download the signed module file (.modl) from the Plantformance portal.

  2. Log in to your Ignition Gateway web interface and navigate to Config > Modules on the left-hand navigation menu.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page, click Install or Upgrade a Module, select the downloaded .modl file, and click Install

2. License Activation

  1. Navigate to Config > Licensing on the left-hand menu.

  2. Activate your purchased license key for the Plantformance Factory Device Controller module.

  3. Verify that the license status reads Active and that the Max Active Sessions matches your seat agreement.

3. Firmware Configuration Options

Navigate toConfig > FB Factory Devices > Firmware Settingsand choose one of the following methods to serve connected terminals:

  • Option A: Automatic Download (Recommended)

    Enable Automatic Firmware Download and set the update schedule to allow the module to fetch firmware directly from the official Plantformance server.

  • Option B: Manual Web Interface Upload

    Navigate to Firmware Management, use the file uploader, and upload your firmware archive file (e.g., .zip) directly.

  • Option C: Manual File Drop

    Place the firmware archive file directly into the Ignition Gateway data directory:

    [Ignition Data Directory]/plantformance/com.plantformance.factoryDeviceHandler/.

4. Application Integration & Verification

  1. Upon successful connection, the module automatically creates a dedicated tag provider.

  2. Verify that each FactoryTouch device automatically populates as a distinct folder within that tag provider, complete with out-of-the-box tags for the attached NFC reader and 2D barcode scanner.

  3. Configure the device to run either an Ignition Vision or Perspective application via the module interface (reconfiguration takes approximately 2 minutes).
