Module - Ultra Charts

Installation & Setup

Installation & Setup

Prerequisites

Before installation, confirm that:

  • The Gateway meets the documented Ignition compatibility requirement in Requirements & Compatibility.

  • Perspective is installed and available.

  • You have an Ultra Charts module artifact approved for the target environment.

  • The administrator performing the installation has the required Ignition module-management permissions.

Use artifacts obtained through your organization's approved distribution process. Verify artifact origin and any signing requirements according to your Ignition deployment policy.

Installing the Module

  1. In the Ignition Gateway web interface, open the module-management area.

  2. Choose the standard option to install or upgrade a module.

  3. Select the approved Ultra Charts module artifact and complete the Ignition installation workflow.

  4. Confirm that the module starts without errors in the Gateway logs.

  5. Reopen or restart the Designer so it loads the module's Perspective palette entries.

Initial Configuration

Ultra Charts has no module-specific Gateway configuration page or required connection setup.

To begin using the module:

  1. Open a Perspective project in Designer.

  2. Open a Perspective view.

  3. Locate the Ultra Charts category in the component palette.

  4. Drag a chart family or preset into the view.

  5. Replace sample data with a static value or a Perspective binding.

  6. Configure chart properties and optional events.

  7. Preview the view and save the project using the standard Ignition workflow.

Configuration Roles

Role

Typical responsibility

Gateway administrator

Installs, updates, enables, and monitors the module through normal Ignition administration.

Perspective project designer

Adds components, configures properties, bindings, styles, and event handlers.

Perspective session user

Views and interacts with charts that a project designer has configured.

Ultra Charts does not define additional module-specific user roles.

Connection / Integration Setup

No module-specific connection, endpoint, device, database, or cloud-service setup is required. Supply chart data through standard Perspective project bindings and properties.

Security Recommendations

  • Follow least-privilege practices for Gateway administration and Perspective project editing.

  • Restrict Expert-mode and executable chart configuration to trusted developers.

  • Do not bind code-oriented chart properties to untrusted or operator-entered content.

  • Use your organization's approved Gateway transport, certificate, reverse-proxy, and network-access practices.

  • Validate access to the Perspective project and its underlying data separately; Ultra Charts does not replace Ignition access control.

Verification

After installation:

  1. Confirm that the module is running in the Gateway.

  2. Confirm that Ultra Charts appears in the Perspective component palette.

  3. Add a simple preset to a test view.

  4. Verify rendering with a small static data set.

  5. If the project uses interactions, test each configured component event in the target Perspective session.

Updating the Module

Use the standard Ignition module upgrade workflow with an approved artifact. Back up relevant projects and validate the updated module in a representative non-production environment first.

No migration procedure or upgrade matrix is documented. Review existing Perspective views after an upgrade, particularly views using advanced chart settings or Expert-mode.

Uninstallation Considerations

Removing or disabling the module makes its active Perspective component types unavailable. Before removing it, identify affected projects and maintain a backup through your normal Ignition backup and project-management process.
