Module - Ultra Charts

Introduction

Introduction

Overview

Ultra Charts is an Ignition Perspective module that adds charting components to the Perspective Designer palette. It renders visualizations from data already available to a Perspective view through component properties and bindings.

The active module provides seven general chart families, a Sankey chart for flow visualization, and an Expert-mode component for trusted project-authored D3 visualizations. It is a visualization extension, not a standalone application, historian, reporting service, or data-integration product.

What Problem It Solves

Perspective projects often need visualizations beyond a limited set of fixed chart types. Ultra Charts provides configurable starting points for common chart patterns, including bars, lines, points, rules, density views, geometric diagrams, and network or flow diagrams. Designers can bind view data to a chart and tailor its presentation within the normal Perspective project workflow.

The module does not directly acquire data from PLCs, databases, historians, cloud services, or other external systems. Those integrations remain the responsibility of the Ignition project and its bindings.

Key Benefits

  • Adds a dedicated Ultra Charts category to the Perspective component palette.

  • Provides preset-based starting points for multiple chart families.

  • Supports browser-rendered SVG and DOM visualizations in Perspective views.

  • Supports selection, brush, and Sankey click events where the component configuration enables them.

  • Keeps chart configuration with the Perspective project rather than requiring a separate chart server or module-owned data store.

Target Audience

Ultra Charts is intended for:

  • Perspective project designers and SCADA developers who configure views and bindings.

  • System integrators and automation engineers who need operational visualizations.

  • IT/OT personnel who review platform compatibility, access, and deployment practices.

  • Operations and maintenance teams who use Perspective sessions containing configured charts.
